Inflation calculator
See what your money will be worth in the future, in what it can actually buy today.
How inflation eats your money
When prices rise 15% a year, 100 buys what 87 bought a year ago. Money that sits in cash, or earns less interest than inflation, quietly loses what it can buy. The "worth in today's money" figures show that loss in plain terms.
Common questions
What inflation rate should I use?
Use your country's official yearly inflation rate, usually published by the national statistics office or central bank. You can also try several rates to see a range of outcomes.
Is this a forecast?
No. Future inflation is unknown. The results show what would happen if prices rise at the rate you choose, so try a few different rates.
What is a real return?
It is the yearly growth of your money after taking away inflation. If your savings pay 10% and inflation is 15%, your real return is negative, so your money buys less each year.
